Clone troopers are the soldiers of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. They are genetically engineered from the DNA of bounty hunter Jango Fett to be loyal, obedient, and quick to deploy. Clone troopers fought against the droid armies of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and served under the command of the Jedi Order.
At the end of the war, clone troopers were ordered to execute the Jedi Order by the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, who had secretly been pulling the strings of the Republic all along. Following the formation of the Galactic Empire, clone troopers were slowly replaced by stormtroopers.
Clone troopers have become cultural icons and are a widely recognized element of the Star Wars franchise.
