After spending his early years in foster care and juvenile hall, he is adopted by Mary Anne Creed, Apollo's widow. Donnie lives a life of luxury and maintains a stable white-collar job, but he abandons it to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a professional boxer. He goes to Philadelphia and convinces his late father's friend Rocky Balboa to train and mentor him.
