Kotaro accepts the challenge and the two of them battle it out. In the end, Kotaro wins the fight and the girl tells him that her name is Hikaru Shidou. Hikaru is a talented Angelic Layer fighter and she invites Kotaro to join her team. Kotaro agrees and the two of them become friends. They train together and compete in Angelic Layer tournaments. They eventually become one of the best teams in the world.
