Dr Charlotte Staples Lewis Dr. Charlotte Staples Lewis was a cultural anthropologist on a mission to the island where Oceanic Flight 815 crashed. On the island, she was initially held hostage by one of the plane crash survivors, John Locke, but was freed when another person from her team switched places with her. She helped prevent poison gas from being released over the island, and developed a relationship with Daniel Faraday. Charlotte died in Daniel's arms after the frequent time traveling caused her headaches to worsen into something unexplainable.
