Perun, the highest god of the Slavic pantheon, was a fearsome deity who ruled over the sky, thunder, lightning, storms, rain, law, war, fertility, and oak trees. He was also associated with fire, mountains, wind, iris, eagle, firmament, horses and carts, and weapons (hammer, axe, and arrow). Perun was first associated with weapons made of stone, but later with those of metal.
