Kanji ISHIWARA
Kanji ISHIWARA was a Japanese admiral in the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. He was born in 1890 in the city of Hiroshima. He graduated from the Imperial Japanese Naval Academy in 1912 and served in a variety of ships and positions throughout his career. He was promoted to admiral in 1941.
ISHIWARA was a supporter of the Japanese Navy's plan to attack Pearl Harbor. He was the commander of the Japanese fleet that attacked the Philippines in December 1941. He was also the commander of the Japanese fleet that attacked the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo in April 1942.
