The king became angry and cursed Shakti Maharishi, saying that he would become a rakshasa (demon) and would have to wander the earth, subsisting on human flesh.
The curse came true, and King Kalmashapada became a rakshasa. He wandered the earth, killing and eating people. Eventually, he was killed by a group of heroes.
