Dian Wei was a fierce warrior, and he was often praised for his bravery and skill in battle. He was also known for his loyalty to Cao Cao, and he was always willing to risk his life for his lord. One of Dian Wei's most famous exploits occurred during the Battle of Changban. Cao Cao was fleeing from the warlord Liu Bei, and his army was in danger of being overrun.
