He said that the vineyard was his inheritance from his father, and he would not sell it. Queen Jezebel was angry that Naboth would not sell the vineyard to the king. She decided to get rid of Naboth so that the king could have the vineyard. She sent some men to lie to the people of Jezreel, saying that Naboth had cursed God and the king. The people were angry, and they stoned Naboth to death. The king was finally able to get the vineyard, but he was not happy. He knew that he had done wrong, and he was haunted by the memory of Naboth.
